« on: September 19, 2024, 10:17:21 am »
Veridex, a brand name drug from Turkey, has been reported as containing the breast cancer medicine anastrozole.

In the U.S. anastrozole is known as Arimidex. This is also the most common brand name for anastrozole worldwide, found in over 100 countries.

Anastrozole is approved by the FDA:

to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women
for women whose cancer has progressed after taking tamoxifen (brand name: Soltamox). The brand name Nolvadex has been discontinued from marketing in the U.S.
Anastrozole works by lowering estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, which may slow the growth of certain types of breast cancers that require estrogen. It is classified as an aromatase inhibitor and hormone / antineoplastic agent.
