SHOES
« on: June 05, 2022, 10:26:00 am »
What kind of shoes do you guys wear for the gym and just normal wear and tear?

I used to be all about Nike shoes because of the way they fit and the fact that I knew the brand and was comfortable ordering online.  I wear a 14 in US sizes and its very difficult to find a store that carries that size so trying on shoes in person is something of a challenge.  A few years ago, my son found ON Running shoes and I bought a pair and liked them but now I am on my second pair and the shoes just don’t seem like they were designed for heavier guys.  At 300 pounds, I think I need a beefier shoe as these tend to feel like I am pushing right through the padding almost.  I was not looking to go back to Nike but I will if need be.  My thought though is that I know I am not the only one here who is a heavier guy than normal so what do you guys wear?  Are there any big guys that have found something that works better for them in relation to this?

Give me some intel

I wear nike to walk around in.  The running sneakers because their lighter.  I always be sure to get the X wide size.  If not I'm 290-310 any given day and the lighter shoe makes my feet feel good.  I'll use Nike trainers for working out.  Shoes are tough when it comes to weight lifting.

For the gym I wear otomix
I do have a pair of the gasp that are similar to otomix and the dang inserts are always sliding back up the heal. I finally glued them in.

Aw ouch!.. I get big discount from GASP but their shoes did not go up to size 14?  So I can't say if I liked them?  Jury still out on them.

The only things I can wear from GASP are their pants.  I have so many of their gym pants and even their cargo pants as well.  The shirts are really tight for their XXXL and I don’t like them to be that tight.  I like the hoodies as well, lots of room and a good weight to them but their shirts run way too small for me.

That does remind me, I have probably a half dozen of their XXXL t shirts.  Only tried on, don’t wear them.  Anybody got any interest in those?

If you wash and dry the T shirts they will shrink.

Yeah I found that out as well.  I’ve never been a fan of tight clothes myself and I hate the feeling of tight clothes so I got these new shirts and don’t ever wear them.  Live and learn I guess

I wear Xero Prio for the gym. They do not slip on the hack squat or leg press and are a zero drop, so I feel I have full connection to the floor during squats, deadlifts, cleans, etc... I wear them around the house and town as well.

For outdoor activities I wear New Balance. It doesn't really matter what brand though, as long as it is a stability shoe and wide enough for my feet.
If it doesn't scare you, it is not heavy enough.

Especially once you get a good sweat going. I feel like I need to cut the dang this off before I can pull it off from sticking to my back.

I like GASPs hoodies, good and heavy and pants , the stuff just lasts. Agree on shirts but I'm just about right on 2x and love the oversize baggy 2x (can't remember what they are called)
