I say this every time I go stripper fishing the first few times. This year trying to catch on my first outing in the Atlantic Ocean

Like they say Jipped, a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.
Glad you got away but sorry it wasn't a high fish count trip.

Day I got there light 5mph SW wind and perfect. Storm rolled through and dumped 2 inches of cold rain in 2 hours. After that the wind started HOWLING 25 mph with gusts 35 out of the hard east. Need less to say, the fish had lockjaw. I went out with a guide We traveled high and low looking for active fish. Tried every kind of bait. in 8 hours of fishing I caught one tiny jack fish. Did not see one bone fish or permit. They all just went off shore I guess. Guide had pics on his site of 10 bonefish a couple 10-20 lbs permit, 10 or so big snook and a few guys caught a 30 inch tarpon a day right up until my trip and SUCK CITY!
Hell, I could not even catch one single mangrove snapper off the pier with live or dead shrimp. Ended up snagging a parrot fish and catching some strange little tiny snapper in 20 hours of fishing.
Still had fun with my fam who went with me. Very disappointed I caught not one game fish. It is my curse. I have told yall before, if I plan a trip, something will ruin it. Cold front, rain, very high pressure. Hell I went to Colorado to fish for trout and there was a blizzard IN JUNE! I shot you not.
