Title: Accident
Post by: guest27 on November 23, 2022, 08:03:46 am
So yesterday, I left Louisiana and came home to for the holidays.  My wife was at work so I came home and my youngest son nd my daughter and I were going to lunch.   I have only been home for about 30 minutes at this point.  My baby boy is 15 and had his permit and I had bought him a truck and so he is driving this fairly new 20 model Ram 1500 and we get to a four way stop and as we are going through the stop sign, this crack head blows through the right side of the stop sign on a bicycle.  Now, I should say that this was a homemade motorcycle.  This guy has a weed eater motor affixed to it somehow that was powering this thing and he was maybe running 30 miles an hour.  He centers the hood on my boy’s truck and he goes up on the hood and the bike goes under the truck and my boy hits the brakes and throws the guy off the hood and he rolls over to the edge of the road.  It was not a busy street and it is small town Georgia.  I get out and immediately go into combat medic mode and start dealing with the issue of this guy who at this point, I am confident is dead.  He isn’t responding and he has some blood but nothing is obviously deformed.  I have the kids get back in the truck because I don’t know yet if we killed this guy or not.  Call 911 and everyone shows up and I knew the medics and the cops and the guy doesn’t appear to be that bad at first report.  Cops talk to my boy who is obviously upset and tell him its not his fault, they have told this guy to stop riding his illegal and dangerous bikes a dozen times and he has been reported another dozen times for running stop signs and various violations.  The report is on our side.  The damage to the truck was easily visible with a nice head size dent in the hood.  Anyway, we look to be in the clear legally but of course this POS has no insurance and I am sure he will find some scumbag attorney and come after our insurance company a the very least and so I don’t know the final outcome of the guy but we are working through it here at home....  One more fucking thing.

Crazy shite brother, but don't trip.
Report it to your insurance and let them take care of it. That's their job, not you or your sons.
Your insurance company should pay you immediately and then go after the perpetrator for reimbursement.
I doubt someone as stupid as the homemade bike rider can find an attorney to take his case pro bono since he's obviously the guilty party.
And I doubt he's got enough money to pay for one himself based on what you wrote and his penchant for breaking the law.
Chill out and enjoy the holidays because I can guarantee you this guy's Thanksgiving ain't gonna be so grand...

I agree and appreciate it brother.  I hate it for my boy is all.  Kid trying to do good and some crackhead messes up his mind.  I am not worried about it really, just hate it for my boy is all.

I am sorry that happened to you and yours brother. That is real common here with the meth community.

Hey, it's your boy. If he has half your mind he will be fine and tell all his friends at school. He will get over it brother, young-uns are resilient. When something happenes it is the biggest thing ever for 3 days then it fades away when they see an epic meme.

Sorry, this happen to you.  These bikes are all over.  They are motorized.  They need to be enforced because they are motorized.  Which means they should also be insured and if one is revoked DL.  Should not be on one of these.
These bikes are the new thing now. [ But I don't see LE enforcing motor vehicle laws.  quote author=Paramuscle link=topic=1136.msg1664#msg1664 date=1669212226]

Damn that sucks brother, sorry that had to happen to you and your boy. I know even being in the clear that is traumatizing for a young driver.

Those damn "liquor sickles" as we call them are BS. A huge loophole that is exploited, making the roads a lot more dangerous. If it is motorized and operated on the road then the operator should have a license and the vehicle should meet all DOT requirements.

Current laws in big cities.  LE are not allowed to pursue three-wheelers or dirt bikes on highways. They have to use other investigative ways to issue tickets.  Which will lead to FTA warrants (Failure to Appear).  With all the police shootings, Officers cannot arrest for MTV warrants.  Due to past police shootings.   think if the stop hiring the mayor's, nephew, son, or city council family members and hire qualified mature men.  LE would be more professional.   They want to hire these types of people so they can retire with pensions, and they are not fit for duty.

Politics ruin good people.
