Never on my kayak, but I have a 1947 Johnson 2.5 hp Seahorse I used on my pirogue while in Louisiana. Worked pretty well pushing me around at 195 lbs, 40 lbs pirogue and probably 20 lbs of gear.
If it doesn't scare you, it is not heavy enough.
