Caught a huge crappie
« on: January 21, 2023, 08:11:30 am »
Pulled up a 14.5" crappie yesterday. Only keeper I caught in 3 hours. My PB for sure. When I hooked it I thought I had a channel cat. Had to weigh over 2 lbs. Fat with eggs. Let it go.

Texas. Water is in the  mid to high 40s, they will not start spawning for another 6-8 weeks. But the females we are catching have egg belly.

Nice! Spawning in MO happens around May-June in most of the lakes. Ponds can be sooner.
If it doesn't scare you, it is not heavy enough.
