Went out last night. Bass fished. Slayed em. Biggest was 5 lbs. smallest 2 lbs. All on a watermelon red flake weightless trick worm. I used a spinning rod with 15 lbs braid and a 12 lbs fluoro leader (FG knot) The key was casting as shallow as possible. On the bank was best or hitting the base of a tree or cover dead nut in less than 1 foot of water. Once away from cover, reel in fast as I tried working it back into 3 foot of water but not a bite. Shortly tried a wacky worm and a Tx rig craw, no bites.

wind sucked, could have caught more but I had to reposition after every cast as the wind was blowing me 30 feet out of where I wanted to be.

That is awesome! I am still hoping I can go out. Now we are expecting higher winds and on Lake of the Ozarks that can be dangerous. I can stick pretty close to shore, but I have to cross a big inlet to get to where I want to fish.
If it doesn't scare you, it is not heavy enough.

Stay safe mate.   I know when  I get the fish fever itch.  It's no stopping me.

Had a cold front move through Thursday. Now high pressure and cool for the weekend. Hard fishing with the wind.

Not next weekend but the first on May will be a banger if the weather is nice. It will be the 1st full moon of that month and in my experience in Tx the shad will spawn like mad. I was chunking a swim jig and caught every manner of predatory fish we have. LOVE IT!

Caught a couple of fatty crappie yesterday. Conditions were poor. None of us caught one under 12 inches.

Had a bass pro gift card. Bought a new crappie jig rod. Caught crappie, bass and a very aggressive channel cat.

Went out for a few minutes tonight to the boat slip. Caught 7 fat crappie. I cleaned them and my buddy said LOOK AT THAT!

The sand bass were going nuts at the end of the marina. So I threw a crappie jig and caught 15 or so before it got dark.

Fresh crappie for dinner tonight!

I went out trout fishing yesterday. Threw the fly for a few casts and got one hit, but missed the hook set. It was really windy, so I gave up trying to throw the fly. I put on a Bobby Garland jig and caught my limit in 10 minutes. I spent more time walking from my truck to my fishing spot than I did fishing.

Love those BG jigs. I like the original in chartreuse pepper. I have caught some slabs this year. I really have not jig fished all that much. Just got a good rod and reel for it and better than borrowing one every time.

Went on the kayak last night. from 7:30-8:00 the sand bass and smaller hybrids were schooling around me. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. I caught at least 30 fish. One hybrid was about 16" and the sandies were all about 10-12 with only 1-2 dinks.

so much fun on 6 lbs line and a light rod.

Last night for dinner I had 10 crappie fillets from Tuesday when we cleaned fish. Olive oil and lemon pepper on them then lay them on thinly sliced lemons on your baking sheet. 10 minutes at 350 pull them then turn on the broiler to heat up. I drizzled them with Irish butter and put them in for 90 seconds. Just enough to brown them a bit on top.

Delicious.

Had an hour to kill so I rode my moto to the lake with my little cheap ass zebco dock demon rod in my backpack. I caught a 8-10 lbs flathead catfish on cheap 6 lbs line!

Line broke when my buddy net the fish but I got him.
