Will Air Traffic Controllers Slow Down USPS Mail
« on: November 13, 2025, 03:27:30 pm »
Air traffic controller strikes will not directly impact USPS mail delivery because the Postal Service is an independent entity and its operations are not affected by government shutdowns. However, a strike that leads to widespread flight cancellations could cause delays in mail that is sent by air, which USPS contracts with private airlines to transport.
USPS operations are independent: The USPS is self-funded through sales, not tax dollars, and is therefore not directly impacted by government shutdowns or labor disputes within government agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Air-transported mail may be delayed: While USPS relies heavily on ground transportation, some mail is moved by air. If a strike grounds a significant number of flights, it could cause delays for this specific portion of the mail stream, notes Yahoo News Canada.
No impact on mail service guarantees: While individual packages might face slight delays, the overall service of the Postal Service itself will continue uninterrupted, meaning the mail will still be delivered.
