As much as you need. No more and no less.
If it doesn't scare you, it is not heavy enough.

I like 2 weeks off and 1 week where I work out 1-2 days.

HAHA

Listen to your body. I did not watch the vid as everyone is different and a natty old guy will need more rest than a juiced up 35 year old. If you are getting run down then rest. Spend a day resting for a better workout the following day.

Agreed brother. I hear it all the time, there is not such thing as over training, just under eating and under recovery. I somewhat agree with this when it comes to muscle tissue, but there are other factors to consider that can be over trained like, joints, connective tissue, CNS, etc...The older we get the more time off you need for those things to recover. Even more for the fact by now you should have really learned how to train with intensity, so your hour in the gym equates to about 5 hours the broccoli heads are putting in.

100%, people do not take CNS into consideration a lot. A person who does high reps and light weights  until they get a little tired will never understand TRUE exhaustion. lift super heavy things until failure 4 days in a row with HIIT training and find out.
