Helps for about 8-10 weeks then starts to wear off. Doing PT every day to strengthen my core and support my fubar back has helped far more than any medial procedure I have had. (Other than my fusion of L%-S1 which was 100 % necessary for me to function)

It took away 75% of the pain for a while but within 8 weeks was back to constant pain.

If you have back pain, get the epidural, STOP doing moves with axial loads on the back. Do PT for 16 weeks as if your life depended on it.

I would get them and do heavy squats again and end up worse for it. PT has given me back quality of life. My core has never been stronger and my back never more stable. Yeah I do light squats like a girl but I do not hurt all the time.

When the days comes that i can't squat heavy or lift heavy.  I will do medium to light weight.   will squeeze and hold my movements and  use the negative range.    But nothing wrong with going light.  We are all going to get there.  I see some of the retired guys in Dubai.  They're messed up but still on the sauce.  As bad a shape as their in.  They say they would not change a thing.

They all say that until they are 60 if they make it that far and are broken so bad their quality of life sucks or are looking directly at heart failure. I gave up BB and power lifting over 20 years ago. If I continued i am sure my knees, back, hips would be fubar. Yeah I lost 40 lbs of mass and could not lift half of what I did back in the day but I feel way better.

It's a trade off.

My wife has only 1 more epidural left. Her Dr says there is a limit to the # she can get. This last one seemed to help the fastest. Only temporary. Last one is scheduled. I have to pick her up because she goes under.

I had 3 done starting in November 2015 and got my 3rd 12 weeks later.  Two herniated discs. First shot did nothing really. I was in absurd amounts of pain that I always wanted to throw up. I went to Mexico 4 days later on a planned vacation. I got around but it was painful. So I will say the first only took a slight edge off the misery I was in. next shot was 6 weeks later and again minor relief but better again. Another 6 weeks and 3rd shot was the trick, pain was gone and, knock wood, still doing well.  Thankfully because they said limit was 3 shots during that time.
