I just stick with 1 gram per lbs. I do think you can do more with gear.

Without gear I do not think you can utilize it.

I agree. Without gear, for me excess protein is just extra calories that do not lead to fat accumulation.

So for you excess protein does NOT lead to stored as excess and converts to fat issue?

Nope. Granted, my carbs and fats are not high either. I rarely go over 200 grams of carbs a day during the off season, minus cheat weekend. As long as I keep my carbs low, I can eat a ton of protein and not get fat. At 198 lbs I was eating 4000 calories around day 450 grams of protein, 200 grams of carbs and 160 grams of fats as my maintenance with cheat weekends every other weekend where I was consuming around 15,000 calories on those cheat weekends.
If it doesn't scare you, it is not heavy enough.
